Patio Life

SUNNY & 75

It's the little conversations with people you love and great weather that make a day so special and exciting. Oklahoma City is growing and molding some awesome new hang out spots where you can do just that. We finally have some great outdoor patios for any age group. My latest favorite is The Pump Bar, located on 23rd and Walker. You must be 21 to enter.

During the evening it has a good crowd. The outside seating is perfect for a nice evening. They have their own cocktails and a large variety of beer and many of them being local beers.

BRUNCH its the best part of a weekend morning. Every week their brunch menu changes and everything on it looks amazing. Buckets of mimosas for $15 and killer bloody marry with house infused vodkas.

A Lasting Lipstain

Summer is rolling around the corner and a pop of color on your lips can keep you glowing in this awful Oklahoma heat. Every year I struggle with if I want to keep up with a lipstick or the struggle of my hair getting stuck in my gloss while driving with my windows down. I have found a solution! A solution that actually stays on for hours and through meals. MELTED long wear lipstick by Too Faced.
This awesome lip stain comes in multiple colors and is not messy. The applicator is more of a fuzzy feel and lets you control how much you are putting on. You can find it at Sephora for $21.I highly recommend you give it a try!

Break out the Maxi

Spring has arrived and I can hardly wait to break out all the shorts and dresses. This weekend I spent a little time in downtown OKC and broke out one of my favorite maxi dresses. Being 5"2 it can really be hard to find long casual dresses that fit. This dress fits great though and has all the neutral colors that go with everything.

Maxi Dress $70 it fits awesome and is very light weight. It is from a local store here in Edmond called Muse.

Skinny Snack

Spring break and Summer are arriving quickly and we are all trying to look our best! I thought I would share one of my favorite snacks to keep me from munching on unhealthy things. NO BAKE energy balls. They taste just as good as those gooey no bake cookies you can't get enough of and are very easy with little mess.

INGREDIENTS:

  • 1 cup (dry) oatmeal (I used old-fashioned oats)
  • 2/3 cup toasted coconut flakes
  • 1/2 cup peanut butter
  • 1/2 cup ground flax seed
  • 1/2 cup chocolate chips or cacao nibs (optional)
  • 1/3 cup honey or agave nectar
  • 1 tablespoon chia seeds (optional)
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

DIRECTIONS:

  1. Stir all ingredients together in a medium bowl until thoroughly mixed. Cover and let chill in the refrigerator for half an hour.
  2. Once chilled, roll into balls of whatever size you would like. (Mine were about 1" in diameter.) Store in an airtight container and keep refrigerated for up to 1 week.
  3. Makes about 20-25 balls.

Polishing Up Your Daily Look

Nail polish is one of the biggest statements you can give your daily look. When your nails look nice you feel more put together. The littlest things make the biggest difference and here are a few of my favorite colors for the spring.

OPI is by far my favorite brand. I have always enjoyed their colors, texture, and feel of the polish brush (trust me the brush really matters).

GO TO COLORS

Shorts Story - is a purplish pink that is good for any season.

Mod About You- is a soft light pink that I love for spring and summer. Many people are into the nude colors during this time and this color gives you a little more pop.

Miami Beet- is more of a maroon color great for the colder months.

NEW COLORS

I am very excited to see the new Hawaii Collection OPI has come out with for Spring 2015. No matter what your style or favorite nail color is there is a polish for you in this collection.

A little pop of color can go a very long way.

Cheapest Ways to Fly

Throughout my traveling experiences I have learned the key tips to purchasing airline tickets. As I prepare for Spring Break 2015 I have been searching for the cheapest ways to fly myself.

1. Always purchase during the week
The best day to look for airline tickets on any cite is Tuesday. Most companies release their pricing and information on Mondays so the best deals of competing airlines come out on Tuesday.

2. Always clear your online cookies
The more you look up a certain airline cite the higher prices may raise. It is amazing how many things our computer tracks with todays technology. The prices may rise in order to trick you into buying your ticket faster.

3. Beware of cancellation policies.
Websites like Orbitz and Priceline are great if you make sure you understand what you are doing. I have only used Orbitz twice, but was very pleased. A lot of the tickets you repurchase on their sites are refundable within a certain amount of days. Make sure you review the policy of all domestic airlines because not all of them will give you a credit or refund you if you have an emergency or change of plan.

4. Mix and Match
This is something I found out myself. Sometimes the departure or return is more or less on one airline than another. Booking one ways instead round trip or booking 2 different airlines is sometimes a good way to save money especially if you are traveling alone.

5. Best times to book
It has been said that too early and too late are the worst times to purchase and airline ticket. Booking 5 months ahead is too early and booking 2 weeks before is too long.

Personal Tip: Southwest Airlines is my recommendation to anyone flying. They have wonderful customer service. Every time I have had to talk to an employee they were kind and very helpful.A bonus to flying with Southwest is you are able to fly 2 bags for FREE. Also if you have an emergency or change of plan you are given flight credit for the next year. Can't forget about the many animated great flight attendants they have serving you daily.
